Head Taunsa Barrage is a barrage on the River Indus in Taunsa district of previously Dera Ghazi Khan District, Punjab province of Pakistan. It is situated 20 kilometres southeast of Taunsa Sharif and 16 kilometres from district Kot Addu.
Taunsa was an ancient settlement and remained a village or town earlier to 21st century. Taunsa was part of Multan region inhabited by mostly Saraiki people. The region was conquered by Arab Ummayads in 8th century CE spreading Islam in the region.

The Ghazi Ghat Bridge is a magnificent feat of engineering that spans the mighty Indus River, connecting Dera Ghazi Khan with its neighboring districts. It is one of the region’s longest and most significant bridges, measuring 4,460 feet in length.
